River Blitz is a field survey of the lower 20+ miles of the San Diego River.
3-6 person teams of citizen scientists walk the riverbed in the City of Santee and San Diego and document what they see on a special app. In the spring, non-native invasive plants are recorded. In the fall, trash and other pollution is recorded.
This data informs our programs throughout the year, plays an important role in developing a State of the River report, and is shared with multiple partners.
Each team gets a specific segment they are responsible for documenting. They are guided by a trained leader who works to ensure it is a safe, fun and meaningful experience.
In November, we use this data for our Great River Cleanup; our biggest clean-up of the year! Want to join that too? Find it HERE!
