Join the San Diego River Park Foundation for a hike to the top of one of San Diego's highest peaks! Did you know that the San Diego River Park Foundation owns and manages hundreds of acres of land on top of El Cajon Mountain? During this challenging and often demanding hike, we will traverse our property and conduct a photo monitoring rare plant assessment for Lakeside ceanothus (Ceanothus cyaneus), an endemic rare plant found only in Southern California.
Please bring a bag lunch or snacks and plenty of water; we recommend 3-4 liters. This hike is not for the faint-hearted and is rated 'hard' on AllTrails. The trail is roughly 11 miles out and back, with an elevation gain of 3,579 feet. For more information about the hike, follow THIS LINK to the AllTrails website.
This event is one of two hikes on Wednesday, April 3rd, that departs from the main county trail from Wildcat Canyon Road, while the other hike will leave from El Monte Road and take the South Ridge Trail.
