Volunteer: Community River Clean-Up @ Forester Creek - Saturday, 12/13/25If you care about the environment and don't mind getting a little dirty, then this may be the perfect fit for you! Join us on December 13th from 9am - 12pm for our monthly Community River Clean-up! Come work outdoors with like-minded members of the community to help remove thousands of pounds of trash in just three hours! Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our namesake waterway. Without our amazing volunteers, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats, parks and public spaces, leach contaminants into the water, and wash out into our ocean and beaches! Volunteer: Shore Clean-Up at the Estuary - Saturday 1/17/26This particular clean-up is a joint event with our kayak clean-up! There will be kayakers out on the water (a unique experience) helping clean-up the river at the same time as our shore volunteers. This is usually not permitted in this protected area, but we have received special permission! This annual event is extra special this year! We are honored to have a tule boat launch led by Dr. Stan Rodriguez of the Kumeyaay Community College and the La Posta Boys and Girls Club of the Kumeyaay Nation. Volunteer: Kayak Clean-Up at the Estuary - Saturday 1/17/26Please read carefully! To sign up for a shift you must email rachel@sandiegoriver.org. Using the sign up button above will not automatically register you. Please email Rachel with the following details: Which shift you would like to sign-up for (Shift 1 or Shift 2) How many participants in your group (4 max if borrowing our kayak) If you are bringing your own kayak or need to borrow one from usIt's that time of year again for our Annual Kayak Clean-Up! Once a year, the San Diego River Park Foundation receives special permissions and permits to put kayaks in the Estuary east of Ocean Beach. Volunteers will be able to kayak around the Estuary to clean all the accessible trash they can find. We have carefully timed this clean-up to coincide with the King Tides and to avoid the nesting season for specific endangered species, such as the Light-footed Ridgway's Rail. This is a rare and unique opportunity to make a difference!! You can bring your own kayak, or SDRPF can provide a spot in a tandem kayak for you, but spots are very limited! Kayak Shift 1: 7:00am - 8:30am (check-in at 6:30 am) The Kayaking age limit is 13 if there is previous kayaking experience, any other inquiries for kayakers under 18 need to talk to us directly. If kayaking is not your thing, but you still want to be a part of the fun, we are also running a clean-up along the shore from 9 am - noon to help clean the entire estuary. To learn more about the shore clean-up and/or to sign up, please click here! Thank you to our partners at the City of San Diego for allowing this special event, and to T the Rincon Tribe for sponsoring this clean-up!
