Join us for a unique opportunity to explore this stunning open space preserve located in the headwaters of the San Diego River. As a volunteer, you’ll connect with fellow nature lovers, soak in the beauty of the landscape, and maybe even spot wildlife like deer or wild turkeys! Together, we’ll help care for this conserved land by clearing fallen trees and repairing recreational trails — vital work that keeps the preserve healthy and accessible for all to enjoy.

This Preserve Stewards event takes place from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on San Diego River Park Foundation preserves near Julian or Descanso, approximately a 1.5-hour drive from downtown San Diego.

Location: The event is located at Eagle Peak Ranch near Julian, approximately a 1.5 hour drive from downtown San Diego.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for the event:

Attire: Long Pants and closed-toe shoes are required

Items to Bring: Reusable water bottle, hat, other forms of sun protection, snacks

Please bring plenty of drinking water, snacks and lunch. We will start at 8am and enjoy lunch together in the shade around 12pm.

Weather: Light rain will not cancel the event. Excessive Heat Advisory will cancel the event.

For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event

There are limited restroom facilities at the event

No experience necessary!

Join our Preserve Stewards at Boulder Creek Preserve this month to care for the beautiful open space land at the headwaters of the San Diego River! As a volunteer, you’ll connect with fellow nature lovers, soak in the beauty of the landscape, and maybe even spot wildlife like deer or snakes! This month together, we’ll help care for this conserved land by removing invasive non-native plants, and planting San Diego sedge plants that are a host for the endangered Harbison's dun skipper Butterfly — Come plant creekside with us and see what we can accomplish together!

Location: The event is located at Boulder Creek Preserve, 14700 Boulder Creek Rd, Descanso, CA 91916, approximately a 1.5 hour drive from downtown San Diego. Please arrive at 10-15 minutes before 8 a.m.
