Who We Are

Experience is the best teacher. Our outdoor programs are designed to provide increased access to impactful environment-based learning and to foster a love of the great outdoors through hands-on learning opportunities for people of all ages.  As Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn!"

First, we learn – then we comprehend – and finally, we protect! At the San Diego River Park Foundation, we foster a better understanding of the value of the San Diego River as an ecological, cultural, and recreational resource and inspire stewardship of this valuable resource.

Throughout the year, we offer school field trips, participate in community festivals, and provide family events to raise awareness of our vision for a healthy San Diego River.

What We Do

Education Programs

Everyone should have the opportunity to experience nature, foster a love of the outdoors, and to learn about the wonders of the San Diego River no matter your age or ability!

  • School Field Trips: Bugs are Cool!
Students are given the opportunity to experience nature, contribute to citizen science, and connect with the great outdoors. The field trip takes a tour of the river, a water sample, and unlocks the secrets about the health of the San Diego River. Check the Education Calendar for dates.
