We are excited to have you explore nature with us while simultaneously contributing to science. We will document plants and animals together using iNaturalist on our smartphones. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for the event:
- You MUST have a Smartphone for this event (minimum one per group)
- Please download the App iNaturalist on your phone before you leave home.
- Review our iNaturalist tutorial on YouTube: Become a Citizen Scientist! How To Use iNaturalist
- Please arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in on time
- Consider clothing that can provide protection. A hat, sunscreen, or any other types of sun protection are also recommended for all of our outdoor events.
- We suggest wearing sturdy tennis or hiking shoes.
- In order to reduce single-use plastics, we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle with water to drink
- Please note that light rain will not cancel this event.
- For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event
- There are no restroom facilities at this location. Please plan accordingly.
COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
- This is an outdoor event, and protocols will be in place to encourage physical distancing for all volunteers from different households. We ask all volunteers to carry a mask on their person during this event. Staff and Volunteers that have completed their COVID-19 vaccination on or before November 9 may elect to not wear a mask during this event. Unvaccinated staff and volunteers, or those that have not completed the 10 day post-vaccination period, must wear masks at this event. Any volunteer may elect to wear a mask if they wish, regardless of vaccination status.
- Based on public health guidance, these precautions may be subject to change. We will highlight any changes by email and/or in-person during event orientation. Thank you for your help in keeping our community of volunteers safe!
