ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Dr. Eleanora (Norrie) Robbins started her geology career with the Tanganyika Geological Survey as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Dodoma, Tanzania. She then worked for the US Geological Survey as an economic geologist and palynologist for 34 years in Washington, DC, Denver, CO, and Reston, VA. After retiring from the Federal Government, she became adjunct faculty at SDSU, a 15-year-long job where she mentored students while working on her own research on geomicrobiology. One interesting research project involved studying the microorganisms that precipitate iron, calcium, sulfur, and manganese in the San Diego River. Dr. Norrie currently volunteers with the San Diego River Park Foundation's Education Program and loves living in San Diego!

Check out her work on the SDSU Website HERE.
