Description

Join us for an invigorating hike along the route connecting two of our properties in the Headwaters: Eagle Peak Ranch to Bathtub Creek Preserve. We call all of these preserves part of our Eagle Peak Preserve network. Bathtub Creek Preserve is our closest preserve to Cedar Creek Falls, a popular hiking destination in San Diego. This hike promises beautiful views, covering various terrains with significant elevation gains and losses. It is essential to note that this hike is for individuals who are comfortable hiking on rough terrain and navigating elevation changes, as the trail spans approximately 6 miles through challenging habitats, including chaparral, oak woodland, coastal sage scrub, and coast live oak riparian corridors. This hike includes stream crossings and walking on loose footing.

During this hike, we will also be mapping trail signs for future hikers to enhance navigation and improve their experience in the preserve. Your contributions will help make the trails more accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

Our journey will take us from Eagle Peak Ranch, winding through Forest Service land, traversing next to our South Rim property, and eventually reaching Easy Hill before arriving at Bathtub Creek. To facilitate the return trip, we will park cars on Eagle Peak Road to shuttle participants back to Eagle Peak Ranch.

Please remember to bring your lunch or snacks to enjoy along the way, and ensure you have an ample supply of water. Be fully prepared with essential hiking gear for a full-day excursion.

As this event takes place in the heart of a wilderness area, we urge everyone to stay in close proximity to our experienced staff and volunteers throughout the event for your own safety. There may be potential hazards, including rattlesnakes, mountain lions, and poison oak, so caution is paramount.
