Join the San Diego River Park Foundation for a sunset hike to the top of one of our newly acquired open space property, Lillian Hill Preserve. The late summer sunset is set for 7:59 PM. From the hilltop, enjoy breathtaking views of Three Sisters Waterfall and the expansive San Diego River Gorge, including Eagle Peak and other San Diego mountain tops!
Please bring a headlamp or flashlight and plenty of drinking water for the hike. We also recommend closed-toed shoes and long pants. This hike is a 1.5-mile out-and-back trail with a 270-foot elevation gain. It is considered 'easy to moderate,' but should not be undertaken by individuals who are not comfortable on uneven trail surfaces or hiking uphill. For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event.
Please note: This event is located in the middle of a wilderness area. Stay in close proximity to our experienced staff and volunteers throughout the event for your safety. Potential dangers include rattlesnakes, mountain lions, poison oak, and loose footing.
What is Lillian Hill?
An expansive 80-acre property at Lillian Hill was placed on the market for potentially five building sites. Surrounded by National Forest, its development would have had a significant impact. We set out to buy this land to conserve it forever for the badgers, cougars, eagles, falcons, majestic oaks, and more. Now that it has been purchased, we can begin removing the scars of decades of land use and start the healing process.
