Come explore and preserve the headwaters of the San Diego River for River Refresh Day! Join us and SDGE's Environmental All Star volunteer team for a unique opportunity to explore and beautify this stunning open space preserve located in the headwaters of the San Diego River, near Julian. As a volunteer, you’ll connect with fellow nature lovers, soak in the beauty of the landscape, and maybe even spot wildlife like deer or wild turkeys! Together as a community, we’ll help care for this conserved land — vital work that keeps the preserve healthy and accessible for all to enjoy.
River Refresh Day Projects Include:
- Assemble kiosk information board
- Trail maintenance on our Horizon Rock Trail
- Stain and clean existing kiosks, picnic tables, bat boxes, and benches
- Help San Diego River Park staff with pulling wildlife footage from the cameras located around the trails of Eagle Peak Ranch
- Guided hike and other opportunities for interpretation

Additional Information:
Attire: Long Pants and closed-toe shoes are required
Items to Bring: Reusable water bottle, hat, other forms of sun protection, snacks
Please bring plenty of drinking water, snacks and lunch. We will start at 9am and enjoy lunch together in the shade around 12pm.
Weather: Light rain will not cancel the event. Excessive Heat Advisory will cancel the event.
For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event
There are limited restroom facilities at the event
