
Ever wondered what our River Assessment Field Team does? Every first Tuesday of the month we'll be holding a R.A.F.T. event for anyone to attend! Come get a taste of the river - we're pretty sure you'll get hooked. Normally R.A.F.T. volunteers must attend a certain number of events each month, but this event is open to one-time volunteers.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, the team walks different segments of the San Diego River in the Mission Valley area to identify issues affecting our River, such as trash, storm water debris and illegal dumping. Your reconnaissance of these areas will allow us to effectively plan our cleanup events so that we are having a greater impact on the River’s health with the highest level of efficiency.
The team will work in areas of varying levels of difficulty, ranging from paved trails to trail blazing adventures.
Details:
- You must be 18 years or older to participate.
- Closed-toed shoes are required.
- Sun protection, water and a snack are highly recommended.
- This event is NOT open to volunteers who need their community service hours verified. If you need community service hours, please look at our events on Saturdays and Sundays.
