Join our Preserve Stewards to care for the beautiful open space land of the headwaters of the San Diego River. This month, our focus shifts to Descanso Pond Preserve, an awe-inspiring property boasting breathtaking riparian habitats. Nestled within its scenic landscape lies a remarkable opportunity for us to nurture and maintain our riparian restoration area. As we gather together, we'll engage in the vital work of preserving and enhancing these delicate ecosystems, ensuring they thrive for generations to come. Join us as we unite to safeguard the natural beauty and ecological integrity of this preserve. Come see what we can accomplish together! All events are located on San Diego River Park Foundation preserves near Julian or Descanso, approximately an hour drive from downtown San Diego.
- Please bring plenty of drinking water, snacks and lunch. We sill start at 8am and finish around 11:30am, and enjoy lunch together in the shade from 11:30am - 12pm.
- Long pants and closed toed shoes required.
We will meet at the Park & Ride Lot #29 outside Descanso and carpool in a few cars with high clearance. Please arrive at the Park & Ride 10-15 minutes before 8 a.m. The drive to the Preserve will then take around 10 minutes.
In the spirit of being nature stewards, the San Diego River Park Foundation encourages volunteers to carpool. Volunteers can spend even more time with like-minded people who are all coming in the interest of environmental conservation, while reducing vehicle emissions. However, carpooling will not be organized by the San Diego River Park Foundation and arrangements must be made between volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for the decisions they make when carpooling, including choices regarding safety. The San Diego River Park Foundation is not liable for any risks associated with carpooling.
