SECOND FRIDAYS
Join the One-Mile Action Crew (O-MAC) for a group ride. We are a passionate community, dedicated to the hands-on stewardship of the SD River Trail by tackling focused improvements one mile at a time.
Our core activity is to show up, ride, survey, cleanup, and fixup the San Diego River Trail & Bikeway.
Come make new friends, combine light exercise with impactful social good, and finish your rewarding community effort with a celebratory coffee social!
Location: Ocean Beach Estuary & San Diego River Trail
Park at lot next to SKATE PARK at Robb Field (Note: this is slightly east of our regular location)
Date: Friday, Feb. 13, 9 am - 10:30 am
Followed by coffee Social at OB Coffee Cycle Roasting on Voltaire in Ocean Beach
We will begin with an introduction and brief training on safe riding and recording data. Then we will take an enjoyable group ride approximately 1-mile (roundtrip 2 miles) collecting data, picking up trash, pulling weeds, and recording observations along the river trail.
THE ROUTE: This scenic segment follows the river through beautiful estuary where you can observe diverse wildlife and critical bird habitat.
The trail is completely separate from traffic.
There are declines and inclines as we pass beneth the roadways.
You will pass through areas with urban interfaces and may encounter people experiencing homelessness who are living along the riverbed.
This is a NO DROP ride, meaning no one will be left behind (ex: flat tire)
If you are skating, this is an EASY to INTERMEDIATE path and we highly advise you to bring gummy/soft wheels and knee pads/wrist guards at minimum.
All Wheels Welcome.
Note: if you are unable to join but interested in future events please take this brief One-Mile Action Club interest survey.
