River Garden Club **Family Friendly** - Sunday, 7/10/22

Calendar Happens On Jul 10, 2022
Time 9am - 11am
Expired

Description

Join SDRPF and the River Garden Club for the awesome opportunity to maintain San Diego River estuary and river mouth! This critically sensitive habitat needs some invasive plants removed (such as crown daisy, common mallow, annual sweet clover, sea rocket, Bermuda grass, Bromus spp., scarlet pimpernel, and puncturevine) occurring in pathways marked by post and rope fencing at the River Mouth.

Due to the sensitive nature of the habitat, the planned work areas for invasive removal would occur within the path and in the 18 inch buffer area under the post and rope.  All removal would be non-chemical, including hand-pulling of small plants and removal up biomass/seedhead of larger plants using dandelion weeder hand tool, hand pruners or loppers.  Volunteers will all receive training on plant identification, tool use and disposal, and volunteers will be supervised by a plant expert leader.

The river mouth will also be open for tours at this time. These events will be guided by SDRPF staff or volunteer led and all tools will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty. Sun protection and a reusable water bottle are a good idea too! You're welcome to bring your own gloves, but it is not required. Events take place 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month from 9:00am - 11:00am unless otherwise stated. Please arrive by 8:45am for check-in!

Note: This event takes place at the River Mouth, NOT the Point Loma Native Plant Garden.
