Join us for a fun morning of planting! We will be at the River Center at Grant Park construction site in Mission Valley.
Everyone is invited whether you are experienced or just love plants! We will provide the instruction and everything you need. We have 100s of plants to put in the ground. If you prefer, you can help water them, too!
Haven't heard of the River Center at Grant Park?
Imagine a place in the heart of Mission Valley where kids can go to receive hands-on nature learning experiences - forging a strong connection with the river and its wildlife. Imagine a place for people to go to learn about this natural, cultural and recreation treasure. Imagine a place which reimagines our relationship with our river.

These events will be guided by River Park Foundation knowledgeable staff and volunteers. We welcome and need experienced gardeners, too.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty. Sun protection and a reusable water bottle are a good idea too! You're welcome to bring your own gloves, but it is not required. The event will be 9am-12pm, please arrive by 8:45am for check-in. We will have paper waivers for volunteers to sign morning up for those that do not RSVP online. Kids are invited to join in the planting if they bring an adult helper.
Here are a few tips to help you prepare for the event:
- We will email you information about parking or just come to the site and we can direct you.
- Please no sandals, Tom's or other flats. You must wear sturdy tennis or hiking shoes.
- Please note that light rain will not cancel this event.
- We will provide all tools and supplies for you to use.
- Community Service hours can be verified for those who need them.
- For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event.
- There are restroom facilities at this location
